DESCRIPTION
Wassily Kandinsky was a Russian painter who visualised musical compositions with abstract forms and colours. He is considered the pioneer of Abstract Art; his intricate and dynamic works of art combined colour and spontaneous shapes.
Kadinsky painted as he heard musical tones and chords, he theorised that, for example, yellow is the colour of middle C on a brassy trumpet; black is the colour of closure, and the end of things; and that combinations of colours produce vibrational frequencies, akin to chords played on a piano.
